Featuring guitarist Eddie Arjun Peters, bassist Andre Lyles, and drummer Lamar Myers, this New York City–based power trio dwell somewhere between the poppy side of Pat Metheny or the more exploratory end of blues-based rock bands like Band of Gypsies, jamming without a mess of overdubs or displaying an overly technical sense of wankery. Following up the well-received Space, they once again exhibit chemistry rooted in the rhythmic interplay of Myers and Lyles while Peters soars, spirals, or digs in on these instrumental originals. Organist John Medeski stops by for the soulful “Core,” and the driving “Rocks” and the funky “Lavalust” stand out as well.
