It’s important to note that Vibrate is available in two configurations. The deluxe edition includes the 18 songs that appear on the standard edition, and it adds 15 tracks (and a brief interview track), largely rarities and live versions of essential songs. The inclusion of the Poses bonus track “Across the Universe” (Wainwright’s gorgeous interpretation of the Beatles tune) and the Want Two bonus track “Chelsea Hotel #2” (an eloquent rendition of the Leonard Cohen-Ron Cornelius classic) are reason enough to consider the splurge, though the new track “Chic and Pointless” and the first album appearance of “WWIII” should also tip the scale. The handpicked-by-Rufus nonchronological choices of the first 18 tunes provide a brilliant view of a major talent. “Me and Liza” is previously unreleased, while Wainwright's take on Leonard Cohen’s "Hallelujah” comes from the Shrek soundtrack. The remainder are from favored solo albums. “April Fools” and “Foolish Love” go back to Wainwright’s self-titled 1998 debut, while Poses, Want One, Want Two, Release the Stars, and Out of the Game are smartly represented as well.
