The hitmaker behind countless KAROL G singles, Ovy On the Drums rose to join the vanguard of Latin music producers. After teasing listeners over the past couple of years with loosies opposite the likes of Ozuna and Peso Pluma, the Medellín native drops a focused EP with none other than Myke Towers by his side. In line with his producer’s core strengths, the Puerto Rican trapero turned reggaetonero leans into the latter style here, resulting in the pop-wise perreo moment “DESATAAA” with Saiko as well as more overtly tropical ones like “AMOR NARCOTICO.” Interestingly enough, the pair favor slower tempos more often than not, evident on “TU CUERPO ME LLAMA” and the hypnotic La Joaqui duet “BELLAQUERIA.” Representative of Ovy’s expansive palette, an Afrobeats element pervades “POBRE DIABLA,” while “GODIVA” with Blessd and Ryan Castro gives off a rootsier reggae vibe that nods not so subtly to his chosen genre’s origins.
