Linea Personal first emerged as Street Mob Records signees back in 2023, with singles like “Champagne” and “Salió Cabrón” showcasing their unique, at times R&B-infected, take on modern música mexicana. Some three years later, the Stockton, California quartet solidifies itself as a formidable presence in the wider movement with TODO Ø NADA. The ultimatum indicated by its title speaks directly to their ambitions, expressed both sonically and thematically by each of the four members. Initially presented on single and album artwork as the face of the group, lead singer Gustavo Raya-Garcia notably shares that space here with his harmonizing younger brother Aidan and musical cohorts Jorge Ontiveros and Edgar Lozoya Verduzco, a gesture that speaks to the nature of their collaborative creative process. With its interpolative intro nod to a Tems hit, opener “Caperuzita” strikes an imaginative, anti-romantic chord that distinguishes the group from their peers. The lushly arranged “Balazos” and “ÜLALA” emphasize Lozoya Verduzco’s production preferences, cushioning the romantic, if raunchy, vocals and guitar leads in decadent, pillowy atmospheres. An unmistakably youthful confidence emanates from both the brash and boisterous “PXTAS y ALCXHOL” and the custom-made cruising jam “Por LA,” the latter corrido a long-awaited teamup with Fuerza Regida. Their ever-shifting modes and intentions inevitably blur for the 420-fueled escapades of “HOLANDA” and the morning-after realizations of “Sin Sueño.” Consonant perspectives by guests such as Chuyin on “Cartier” and Clave Especial on “4x4” only serve to enrich their worldview further, one marked by hardened hedonism and criminally minded undertones.
