The East Tennessee quartet Calling Glory build upon the success of their 2012 Christian radio hit “Don’t Give Up” with a nine-track release that combines the acoustic folk of Crowder and Rend Collective with the melodic rock of Kutless and Tenth Avenue North. The band’s sound is lean and direct, keeping the spotlight on Dana Potvin’s openhearted vocals. Band-composed tunes like “Carry Me” and “Kingdom Come” are tunefully engaging and scripturally solid, while covers of Jesus Culture’s “Holy Spirit,” United Pursuit’s “Set a Fire,” and All Sons & Daughters’ “I Am Set Free” compare favorably with their original versions.
