Prog pop, symphonic rock, art rock… call it what you want, but Electric Light Orchestra were one of the most original rock bands of the ’70s. Opening with the interstellar, guitar- and string orchestra-filled “Mr. Blue Sky” and followed by the intoxicatingly smooth, sensual “Evil Woman,” this greatest-hits collection is a straight-up thrill ride, front to back. Superfans will appreciate the secret bonuses in this set, like “Ma-Ma-Ma Belle,” which features Marc Bolan on guitar, as well as a new version of “Xanadu.”
