By the dawn of the 2010s, composer S.S. Thaman’s genre-blending approach had become a hot product in South Indian cinema, thanks to hit soundtracks like 2009’s Kick. For 2011’s Telugu action comedy Dookudu—re-released in cinemas in 2026—he infused refreshing electronic pop into the music, best heard on the smooth “Guruvaram”. Other highlights include the playful, beat-driven “Dethadi Dethadi” and the rocking “Nee Dookudu”, led by iconic singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan. The eclectic Dookudu OST—which is now in Spatial Audio—won Thaman the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director – Telugu in 2011.
