Romances de una Nota III

Between Casa de Leones, Jowell & Randy, and his solo projects, Randy Nota Loca has maintained a steady presence in reggaetón for the better part of the past two and a half decades. Exemplified by generation-crossing collaborative hits with Bad Bunny and J Balvin, his staying power in the industry speaks not only to the respect he’s garnered from those who emerged in his wake, but to his indisputable ability to meet the genre where it exists in the moment. On the latest and apparently final installment of his Romances de una Nota trilogy, he dutifully demonstrates his melodic aptitude. Befitting the title, he expresses amorous intentions over such dembow-driven variants as “Black Jackie Chan” and the alluring “Playa.” His long-standing R&B leanings are prominently displayed on “Nadie Como Yo II” and the more trap-informed “Click,” while Afrobeats influences subtly support his tropical strengths on “Sinónimos” and the Oscarcito-assisted “Candado.” Our Favorite Track: Even with features from stars like Feid and Wisin, Randy truly thrives in tandem with his established studio partner Jowell on the breezy “Intenso.”
