Busisiwe

Busisiwe

Since his breakout with the infectious “Adiwele” in 2021, Young Stunna has maintained a reputation as a leading voice in amapiano, contributing to hits by Kabza De Small, Mas Musiq, and K.O. Features on two songs from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Music From and Inspired By added another layer to the Daveyton-born artist’s story. Marking five years of Young Stunna’s journey, sophomore album Busisiwe pays tribute to his departed great-grandmother, exalting her role in his rise. Weaving elements of Afropop and gospel into amapiano, Busisiwe houses chants geared towards the dance floor and passionate refrains straight out of the pulpit. Soulful opener “BALINDE” captures the collective trust and steadfast patience required to attain success. An unwavering devotion is present on title track “BUSISIWE,” Stunna holding fast to his roots. As blessings abound, an impressive congregation of collaborators help expand on themes of joy, romance, and faith. The prayerful “EDUZE KWAMI” has Young Stunna joining hands with Thatohatsi, CowBoii, and Nontokozo Mkhize, seeking spiritual sanctuary over melodic piano keys. Njelic guests on “ASIVUKE,” complementing Stunna’s striver outlook, while Mthunzi and Tracy show up for “UMUHLE,” an ode to beauty with appropriately pretty melodies. Young Stunna is very clearly having himself a time across Busisiwe, but he’s ever cognizant of what made him, reserving the delicate strums of “TATAMI” for a heartfelt dedication to his late father.
