Each month, the Apple Music Fitness Mix is helmed by the world’s best DJs and producers to deliver the perfect set for your next workout. This month’s mix was assembled by Puerto Rican producer/DJ Caleb Calloway, and it features bumping house tunes blended with a pronounced Latin flair. “I wanted to show off the variety of different styles that are happening right now in the house and electronic music world by Latin artists, producers, and DJs,” Calloway tells Apple Music. “I wanted to show that it’s not just the cliché of speeding up a reggaetón record and making a house remix out of it.” Of course, his mix isn’t just a showcase of new tunes. “I started off strong, then went into a more melodic, daze-y section with a lot of vocals and different melodies,” he says of its structure. “From there, I turned up the speed and momentum. I wanted to keep the energy building throughout the mix to replicate the way that I work out.” Of his favorites, Calloway highlights an edit of Karol G’s “BbY WOW.” “Once I heard that song, I was like, ‘I really want to play this at the club somehow,’ without having to remix the whole record and make it unrecognizable to the point where you only recognize the vocals,” he says. “I took the production and added house music elements to it, which transported the song from the Latin club to the electronic club.” He also loves “Hold On, Let Go” by ANOTR feat. Wayne Snow and 3DDY. “It’s just an incredibly amazing song,” he adds. "The vocals, the guitars, and everything about it just transmit happiness.”
