Atlanta’s classic trap era has evolved in many different directions since its heyday in the mid-2010s, but the city’s Noodah05 is reviving some of its most memorable sounds on his 2026 album, Champion Story. Noodah’s music is inherently triumphant—one scan of the title of his first release since 2025’s Save Yaself reveals the motifs that define the project. On opener “Around Me,” the MC cues up horns and drums from an even earlier era of Atlanta trap (think Jeezy and T.I.) and spins a sample of Tove Lo’s “Talking Body” into a triumphant hook. He updates the stylings by a few years, grabbing screeching, metallic synths from the Carti playbook on “Show Down.” “Vibe,” too, plays with a more modern minimalism, though “NDBG” takes the haunted stylings of trap’s drill influence and updates them for 2026.
