Singer-songwriter Kinsley introduces herself with this debut EP, a six-song collection that positions the Nashville-based artist as an intriguing new voice on the fringier edges of the genre. Working with co-writers including Devin Dawson and Josh Kerr, the 22-year-old Kinsley taps into an especially introspective take on songwriting, whether she’s imagining the pained interior life of an exhausted worker on the title track “Learn to Live” or confronting personal demons on standout ballad “Someone Prayed for Me.” Caitlyn Smith, herself no stranger to go-for-broke songwriting, joins Kinsley on “Cold July,” a soulful account of heartbreak that lets both singers indulge their fiery sides.
