Witbank-originating producer Royal Musiq established his Harvard amapiano style with a foregrounded log drum and distinct melodic progressions. Folding in the sounds of contributors Jinger Stone, Mellow & Sleazy, Focalistic, and Uncle Waffles, the producer’s SZEID—his second project of 2026 after the collaborative EP with Uncle Waffles, 4 DA STREETS!—deepens the sound Musiq has been refining since 2023’s Sorrows of My Heart. Musicality and emotion coalesce across the project, with guests Kailey Botman, Q Bonke, Miikey Ndlovu, Nvcho, Owtoo, De Rose, and Sia_TheBee navigating hope, romance, revelry, and the spiritual. Opener “Banomona” rebukes the envious before an energy shift in “iThemba,” its warmth extended through the affirming lyrics of “Velvet Breakdown.” The jazzy strums of “Manifestation & Peace” reflect its title, while the likewise instrumental “10 Minutes of Greatness” shuttles syncopated kicks into hip-hop terrain. This sonic variety of SZEID shines through an electronic-leaning second stanza, a synth-indebted “DUMB & DUMBER (Intro)” preceding the gritty tech flourishes of “NO FUCK$$$1,” before we encounter the catchy refrains of “H’s on the Table.” The thudding bassline of “AmaRider” nearly screams for libations, its upbeat energy matched by party-starting “Stimamollo,” before the project’s embers die out gracefully in “Make Them Remember.”
