Howls From The Holographic Heart

Howls From The Holographic Heart

On their first album in seven years, The Number Twelve Looks Like You reclaim their throne atop the mathcore heap. In that sense, dizzying noise-metal opener “Trust Chaos” seems like a mission statement for the rest of the album. Howls from the Holographic Heart seesaws wildly from incomprehensible metallic flurries to disarming melody—often within the same song. And the lyrics are just as all over the place. The punky, angular “Dancing Before the Flood” is vocalist Jesse Korman’s response to the COVID pandemic, while their self-described “salsa death metal” of “Joy Is a Weapon” is an anti-violence song with a guest appearance from Foxy Shazam.
