In This Moment frontwoman Maria Brink says that the band’s ninth album is about embracing duality. Not only does this play out in Witch’s contrast between aggression and nuance—the nu-metal assault of “Shame” and pulsing industrial groove of “Crawl” set against the swelling drama of “Into the Dark” and closing piano ballad “Something I Can Never Have”—but also in Brink’s choice of guest performers. On “I Want to Believe,” she shares the vocal spotlight with Dayseeker’s Rory Rodriguez. On “Heretic,” she’s joined by Australian TikTok star Kim Dracula. Last but not least, she joins forces with celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D on a highly modernized cover of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall.”
