The perennially buzzy Fort Worth rapper stays defiant and dynamic. Since garnering deserved attention under the Iayze moniker, Jace! pushed through name changes and more to get to his current spot in the hip-hop underground. With his third Demons installment mere months old, the buzzy Fort Worth, Texas rapper behind “556 (Green Tip)” plays off of Odd Future-styled irreverence and forward-thinking sonics on the defiantly dubbed EAT SHIT. Relationship struggles merge into confident flexes and associated pleasures throughout this nearly hour-long demonstration of his evident staying power, all delivered in short, pithy clips. He evokes 808s & Heartbreak-era Ye on opener “love me to the moon,” his Auto-Tuned croon adapting to the track’s eventual clubby thump. That vocal approach resurfaces on “keep going ganger” and the even more explicit “forty fith,” morphing into the moodily booming “no ho in my bones” and the blown-out 1300SAINT collab “wtf,”. Yet it’s his more explicitly provocative fare like “beyonce” and “headache” that’ll delight his day-ones.
