With the final chapter of the Dark Poem trilogy that began in 2025 with Part I: The Shores of Melancholia and continued in early 2026 with Part II: Sanguis, Norwegian prog-metal wizards Green Carnation conclude their exploration of then-teenage Arthur Rimbaud’s 1870 lyrical ode to Shakespeare’s Ophelia. On opener “Unconditional Artificial Chemistry,” vocalist Kjetil Nordhus delivers bassist Stein Roger Sordal’s conceptual lyrics with total stentorian command as the band goes full interstellar overdrive. The title track serves as the folky, breezy calm before the churning storm of “Broken Souls, Common Enemies,” which in turn sets up the 17-minute grand finale, “A Dark Poem - Orchestral Suite,” performed by the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and Opera Choir.
