Atmos - The 6th Mini Album - EP

The K-pop vets bring the sounds of the last two decades into a modern context. There are few K-pop groups that have enjoyed as successful a career as SHINee. The “Princes of K-Pop” debuted in 2008 and rose to the top of the industry with hits like 2009’s “Ring Ding Dong,” 2010’s ”Lucifer,” and 2012’s “Sherlock.” Formed as a contemporary R&B group, SHINee is known for experimentation across dance-pop, new jack swing, funk, house, and R&B styles. Following the 2017 death of member JONGHYUN, ONEW, KEY, MINHO, and TAEMIN continued on as a four-member version of SHINee. Atmos, a six-track album released 18 years into SHINee’s career, brings the sounds and styles of K-pop’s last two decades into a modern context. The members’ powerful vocals belt over a bouncing house beat on the album’s title track about getting lost in the feelings of one night. On the hopeful alt-rock track “Possibility,” SHINee asks listeners to take a leap of faith for themselves. On the album-ending ballad “Thousand Miles Away,” ONEW, KEY, MINHO, and TAEMIN reflect on how the pain of the past can still lead to a beautiful future.
