Life looks a little different for Philly rapper Skrilla these days. That’ll happen when you single-handedly redefine the entire method of communication for kids under 18, which Skrilla somehow did following the release of his 2025 single “Doot Doot (6 7).” Since the song was included on the deluxe edition of the rapper’s 2024 project Zombie Love Kensington Paradise, it’s taken on new life. With 2026’s Z, Skrilla reckons with his success, reflecting on what comes in the wake of a truly generational song. On “Black Jesus (Intro),” the rapper makes it clear that while he may have a few more zeroes in his bank account these days, he’s still the same dude with the same highs and same lows. Take “Free 40,” one of the most menacing and captivating tracks on the project, which is bolstered by a stirring string sample and a guest verse from YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Skrilla recounts his struggle with lean, declaring once and for all that, “I’m getting clean once my new album Z come out.”
