There’s no easing into this thrumming mix from Paul Oakenfold’s Planet Perfecto series, which kicks off with a banger: the veteran DJ/producer’s hypnotic take on Moogwai’s trance classic “Viola,” reworked to celebrate 10 years of the phenomenal Dreamstate festival. “Dreamstate is a festival that celebrates the music I love—trance and psytrance—and now they do editions all over the world including Mexico, the UK, and Poland,” he tells Apple Music. “Elsewhere in the mix, there’s new versions of two tracks that have played a huge part in my life as a DJ; listen out for a 2026 remix of Grace’s iconic ‘Not Over Yet’ and my brand-new remix of ‘Step On’ by Happy Mondays.” Having opened with a tribute, the mix also closes out with one—the Slacker’s Elevation Vocal remix of Ascension’s 1997 classic “Someone.” “Slacker, aka Shem McCauley, was a producer and DJ whose sound shaped the progressive house scene in the ’90s,” says Oakenfold. “He continued making incredible music until he sadly passed back in 2012. This track proves his music will live on forever.”
