Jade LeMac’s 2025 EP, It’s Always at Night, showcased the BC-bred alt-pop singer’s versatility by casting her assertive voice and straight-from-the-heart storytelling in a colorful production palette of fist-pumping synth-pop and cinematic power balladry. But on this companion release, she revisits the same set of songs in a more intimate setting. This “acoustic” version of It’s Always at Night isn’t exactly stripped-down: “Running Home” and “Intertwined” may no longer come equipped with mirror-ball-twirling grooves, but the liberal use of chamber-music textures and multitracked vocal effects ensures the songs retain their uplifting energy. And if this version of “Sweet Dreams” downsizes the original’s gothic, cathedral-sized grandeur, it’s still the EP’s most arresting moment, as LeMac’s aching delivery entwines with an exquisite string arrangement to dramatic effect.
