In just a few short years, Clarent went from a relative unknown to a visibly rising star, collaborating with the hitmaking likes of Rauw Alejandro, Myke Towers, and Young Miko along the way. Meant as a precursor to his proper album debut, the promising Puerto Rican rapper’s No vuelve a suceder showcases his flows over cutting-edge hip-hop forms as well as decidedly more clubby sounds. Futuristic drill opener “BIENVENIDA” makes his intentions known in a blur of brand names and unfiltered boasts before he slides into gangster mode for the ruthless “BURROS.” Showing off his dance-floor-friendly side, he makes himself known alongside fellow baller Morad over “ESTA VIDA” and triumphantly reteams with his “WOAHH” cohort Omar Courtz for the pulsating two-hander “Scat Pack.” He confidently glides on a retro synth-pop wave for the come-up narrative “LOVE” and parlays that success story into a more romantic one for the atmospheric trap cut “OTRO MOMENTO.”
