Even before his 2021 breakthrough “100 MILLONES,” Latin trap heads knew Luar La L was destined to be one of the genre’s heavy hitters. In the ensuing years, the Puerto Rican rapper became a formidable, inescapable presence with his own singles and projects as well as profile-elevating collaborations with a broad range of artists. Some of those very same studio partners, such as Hades66 and ROA, feature on SOBR3NATURAL, his first album to break from the L3tra framework and usher in a new period for the evolving yet genuinely streetwise star. Across its dozen tracks, he and his occasional guests preside over his expanding sonic domain, no longer limited by expectations. That said, Luar kicks things off with something unmistakably his own, with the forthright and unshakable opener “La Jumper,” its resolute energy and hardened attitude resurfacing later on “Historia De Un Gangster” with Juhn and the drill standout “KHEE LO KHEE.” Yet there’s also the poppier pushes like “Mi Droga” with Dei V and “BADDIE” with quintessential thuggish lover Anuel AA.
