Carín León fans know by now that they can rely upon him to deliver with every single release, whether that be studio projects such as 2025’s Palabra De To’s (Seca) or live albums like Encerrados Pero Enfiestados, Vol. 1. The concert-styled recordings exhibited in the latter category tend to highlight some of his favorite songs written or performed by others, exposing his audience to a wider range of música mexicana’s broad offerings. Running just over an hour, Chapayeka (En Vivo) is filled with notable covers and noteworthy guests. Beginning with “Laurita Garza,” originally a 1982 hit for Los Invasores de Nuevo León, he mines the catalogs of such norteño and banda artists as Ramón Ayala, Chelo, Los Tigres del Norte, and La Arrolladora Banda El Limón. Among the guests playing along with him are Código FN, for a take on Miguel Y Miguel’s “Junto A Un Perro,” and Tony Aguirre, for a rendition of Luis Y Julián’s “Se Mamó El Becerro.”
