Kylie Minogue first released her festive extravaganza Kylie Christmas in 2015, putting her singular spin on seasonal staples including Andy Williams’ “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and the Judy Garland classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” as well as introducing some original material of her own to the holiday canon. Ten years later, her tinsel-strewn disco is the gift that keeps on giving, as the Aussie superstar returns to hang another three sparkling baubles on the tracklist with Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped). Utilizing her versatility as a performer, Minogue offers camp with a saucy wink on “Office Party,” while “This Time of Year” channels wistful yearning into a cozy and tender ballad. But it’s “Hot in December,” an electropop banger laced with jingle bells, that’s set to be a playlist staple not only during the winter months, but all year round. “We knew it was a banger,” she tells Apple Music. “[Songwriter] Sarah Hudson sent me that particular song about four years ago. She’s very OTT. She was like, ‘Girl, you need a Christmas song, I got your Christmas song!’ And I was like, ‘I don’t need one right now, but it is a good track…’ So I thought I should revisit that. We adapted it a little bit, but that one came pretty fully baked.” With work on Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) beginning in March 2025 and continuing through May and July, tapping into the festive spirit wasn’t easy. “I went in to the studio with three of my favorite humans—Biff Stannard, Duck Blackwell, and Luke Fitton—and I arrived with a Christmas stocking that I had used for a CBeebies bedtime story,” she says. “When I originally recorded Kylie Christmas, it was like a wonderland. This time, all we had was this lonely Christmas stocking hanging off the keyboard at Duck’s studio. But it brought us enough joy!” And with Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) fully wrapping a hugely busy and successful 2025 for Minogue—studio sessions were slotted around the Tension tour, which took her to five continents in seven months—she was left with one wish for Christmas and beyond. “I love what I do more and more all the time, and it just gets richer and more meaningful and more challenging and therefore more rewarding,” she says. “So I just want to carry on this pop trajectory. I’ll do my best.”
