Capitalizing on the promise of their first two EPs, 2023’s Dull the Needle and 2024’s BABYLON, Baltimore hardcore crew GASKET drops their first full-length. A gnarly and efficient blend of punk, hardcore, and metal in the vein of Power Trip and fellow up-and-comers Doubt, GASKET delivers grit and aggression in equal measure. On leadoff single “BLOOD TO BONE,” vocalist Flynn Joseph Zimmer rails against a disloyal friend as his bandmates saw off a thudding, feedback-drenched catharsis. “PUREST EXISTENCE” is a rejection of the outside world that combines Hatebreed chug with Swedish metal riffs, while “NAILED DOWN” and “BRICKSUCKER” wallow in head-caving, bass-driven sludge.
