From the lived experiences of Kashmiris to mental health struggles, Alif—aka Srinagar-born singer-songwriter Mohammad Muneem Nazir—covers intense subjects in his tunes. On this EP, curated by Tiger Baby Records music supervisor Ankur Tewari, Alif takes a detour into the gentle field of kids’ music. Subtitled ‘Children’s Songs from Kashmir’, Chupan Chupaai features compositions based around folklore from his home region. Rendered in Kashmiri, Hindi and Urdu—with additional vocals by students from Cambridge Public School in Panzoo—these sweet, singalong tracks will also appeal to the young at heart whatever your age.
