In the five years since 2020’s Flores EP, which brought Marca MP such signatures as “Recuerda” and “Tú,” their capacity to produce songs of love and heartache has grown substantially. Though their prowess as a corridos act never abated, as evidenced by 2024’s LEALTAD, the California-based group regularly drops singles focused on matters of the heart. With the slyly titled ONLY ENAMORADOS, a Valentine’s Day offering no less, Chato and his band immerse listeners in more than an hour’s worth of timely tracks. Previously released singles “CADA DÍA TE QUIERO MÁS” and their popular rendition of La Edicion De Culiacan’s “QUÉ BONITA” meet newly recorded versions of apparent favorites like “COSAS RARAS” and “SI YO FUERA LADRÓN.” Some of the other recognizable cover songs arguably hit just as hard as Chato’s early singles, his arrangements and vocals on Tania Dominguez’s “AMOR NO CORRESPONDIDO” and Julio Chaidez’s “EL AMOR EN CARRO” matching the deeply felt sentiments of the existing originals.
