Thakzin was enjoying a South African summer when he began compiling this mix, leading him to focus on some of the things we often crave when the weather turns. “It inspired me to bring some warm vibes and lift the spirits up,” he tells Apple Music. “My focus is always to use musicality and authenticity to heal people from their pain and sorrows. I always believed in that power, and it always drove me in my musical journey. It has been life-changing to travel the world this year and experience this healing energy with the people everywhere, and I tried to tribute that also in this mix.” To inspire that healing energy, Thakzin has included some of his own music—and one track in particular is very close to his heart. “‘The Road is Long’ is very special to me as it has been made with my fellow musicians Mo-T of Mi Casa and Mas Musiq,” he says. “We managed to capture a very timeless feeling in this one, and I have been playing it in nearly every set in SA and around the world. It is a vibe-setter and the people seem to feel it in a special way too. I’m super excited to finally share it with listeners in the last days of 2024. It is a great summer-ish soundtrack and warms hearts in every condition.”
