“It’s been such a stellar year for my label Bedrock Records and I’m so happy with all the amazing music we’ve managed to put out in 2024,” John Digweed tells Apple Music. “Every year I look forward to doing a special mix featuring a selection of some of my own highlights.” It’s business as usual for the veteran tastemaker, who has spent the better part of the last three decades leveraging his influence as both a DJ and a label founder to amplify standout cuts from the underground house, techno, and trance scene. He offers up “just a taste of how the year went for us” on the Best of Bedrock 2024 mix, a hypnotic rewind through some of his favo rite releases. “It blows my mind the quality of producers coming through and it’s great to have the label to support just a few of them,” Digweed says. “We had a great mixture of returning artists, including Pig&Dan and Ian O’Donovan, and also some brand-new producers like Spencer Brown and [Spanish DJ/producer] Argia. Her productions really shaped the sound of my set and provided many of the highlights—whenever I play her tracks, the reaction is huge. ‘Gemma’ and ‘Data Error Data’ are the [kind of] perfect dark electronica with such good energy that I love to play and I’m already excited for what she has to come in 2025.”
