YTB Fatt, who was raised in West Memphis, Arkansas, lived just across the Mississippi River from the rap haven in Tennessee. As an adult, he parted the seas and became a fixture of the Bluff City scene thanks to projects like 2023’s Who Is Fatt and 2024’s On Zai. Fatt cut his teeth as an affiliate of fellow Memphis spitter Moneybagg Yo and on his second 2024 effort, The Richest Foxx, he showcases the many lessons he’s learned from his mentor, alongside other artists he’s toured with, like Rod Wave and Sexyy Red. The Richest Foxx kicks off with “FREE SMURK, BIG EDDIE & CAM,” which finds Fatt paying homage to his dearly departed friends and wondering where he would be if he wasn’t so nice with the pen. With his gruff, worn voice, he figures he’d be in a penitentiary or casket, and is eager to count his blessings while still mourning his homies who weren’t so fortunate. YTB Fatt keeps the focus on him throughout The Richest Foxx, but he lets Quavo roll through with the lone feature on “WHEN DEY COME.” Fatt proves he can go bar for bar with the Migos icon, fortunate that the survivors are still repping with him.
