Some of the strongest material in the Marca MP catalog comes from their shorter projects. Signature songs like “Recuerda” and “Ya Acabo” appeared respectively on the fan-favorite Flores and DEV, Vol. 2 EPs, which is all the more reason for the group’s devotees to celebrate the arrival of PARY. Coming seven months after the true-to-form LEALTAD, this six-track effort coalesces around an atmosphere of celebration, albeit in a handful of different forms. The rousing and hedonistic “LOKERÓN” perfectly encapsulates the party vibe with evocative imagery, while poignant corridos “CHISQUIRRISKI” and “PA CONTAR” reflect the style that lead vocalist Chato has refined since No Me Quejo. On “R CORTE FINO,” we zoom out of the festivities to offer a not-quite-sober assessment of where one stands. The collaborations are limited albeit significant, first with Los Gemelos De Sinaloa on the social-media-fixated “BALENCIAGA” and subsequently alongside singer-songwriter Juanpa Salazar on the lascivious closer “HPNOTIQ.”
