In his own tracks, LA DJ/producer Captain Planet has always sought to imbue electronic music with flavors and influences from across the planet. In celebration of his Afro-house remix of “Espantapájaros” by Mexican singer/producer/percussionist Pahua for RNT, the label invited him to bring his intrepid style to the In The Mix series. “With this mix I tried to cover a broad range of the artists and sounds in dance music that are keeping me really inspired right now,” he tells Apple Music. “You can hear me jumping from classic soulful disco to funky psychedelic synths to Afrobeat and Latin house, even sprinkling in a touch of acid. While most of these songs are new or relatively recent releases, they all are strongly connected to the deep global roots of disco, house, and club music. I’m also happy to include my new remix of Pahua’s ‘Espantapájaros’ which is out now on Razor-N-Tape records.”
