Tim & The Glory Boys

Tim & The Glory Boys

Since transitioning out of the Christian music world, Tim & The Glory Boys have increasingly turned toward the sounds of bluegrass and pop country, finding a unique lane that also lets them work their pop sensibilities and the sounds of their gospel roots into the mix. On the Abbotsford, B.C., band’s self-titled album, Tim Neufeld and company make good use of those broad influences for a bright, uplifting LP that’s heavy on hooks and melody. High Valley joins the band on opening track “Take Me Backroad,” a foot-stomping anthem that would sound right at home on US country radio. “Without a Prayer” is a jaunty love song with a catchy cascading chorus, while “Float” recalls the summery hits of artists like Jake Owen and Dierks Bentley. The band gets a little twangier on tracks like “Heavensville,” whose soaring vocal harmonies live up to its title, and the gospel-tinged “Rich On,” which celebrates what really matters in life. Tim & The Glory Boys closes with “Bloodlines,” a tribute to family that builds to a larger-than-life crescendo.
