You’d expect a song called “The Best Is Yet to Come” to be a sermon of perseverance or maybe feature a few lines about faith in the face of adversity, but that wouldn’t be KEM’s “The Best Is Yet to Come.” His version, much like the rest of Full Circle, an EP follow-up to 2020’s Love Always Wins, is testament to an already very blessed existence, as the veteran R&B singer stacks gratitude atop gratitude. This is the unifying thread of the EP, which features guest spots from Ty Dolla $ign, Rick Ross, and KEM’s onetime tourmate Babyface. “Lonely” is maybe the single outlier in that it features an element of courtship—as opposed to the language of lovers deeply secure in their bond—but it, too, points to companionship as a cornerstone of happiness.
