No stranger to recording music at home, genre-bending Nigerian singer-songwriter Fave made a name for herself with bedroom freestyles that captivated industry heavyweights—and led to the release of her debut EP, Riddim 5 in 2022. A natural fit, then, for our Home Session series—in which we challenge artists to record intimate versions of their own tracks, alongside covers of their favourite classics. “The lockdown taught me the value and effect of music—and entertainment as a whole,” she tells Apple Music. “Spending entire day hours at home, idle or alone. I’m lucky to be amongst the voices providing comfort and companionship for people in these times, through music.”
Here, she shares intimate versions of her singles “S.M.K” and “Baby Riddim”, alongside a cover of “Silence” by Jamaican singer-songwriter Popcaan. “It’s one of my favourite songs,” she explains. “It has a bounce that I appreciate in any mood, an amazing beat and the message in it is heavy. It’s a complete vibe, and I’m excited to have gone from making my own version in my bathroom, to putting it out there. I hope you enjoy ’S.M.K’ and ‘Baby Riddim’ at a slower pace for a calmer mood.”
