Alevosía

Mala Rodríguez's breakout single, "La Niña," told the gritty story of a barrio girl who grows up in the drug trade. Her dramatic rapping brings the character to life, as the percussion and a nagging keyboard lick create a foreboding mood. Other lyrics here are equally streetwise. She sounds coolly dismissive on "Jugadoras, Jugadores," about "players" on the street; its music mixes flamenco guitars with deep, Snoop Dogg-style beats. She shows a softer side on "En la Hoguera," singing seductively in the chorus.
