The Buena Vista Social Club were a group of singers and featured soloists who came together over the course of a landmark weeklong session in 1996 at Egrem Studios in Cuba. This collection features all the main characters, either on material from the original sessions or in subsequent studio visits and live performances. Original session outtakes are “Macusa” (with the same lineup as the hit “Chan Chan”) and the classic “Lagrimas Negras” featuring Omara Portuando. Other highlights include three live cuts from 2000 of Ibrahim Ferrer backed by Bande Gigante and a late-night session from Eliades Ochoa from 1996.
