Throwback Israeli pop has rarely sounded as fresh. A former member of Devek and 1:1, singer/songwriter Gedy Ronen has worked as a producer for veteran performer Yankele Rotblit and played keyboards in Rotblit's band HaHazer HaAchorit (The Backyard). Years later, Ronen reveals his debut solo album, Omrim SheZe Ata (They Say It's You). Steeped in piano and acoustic guitar, this collection of lyrical tunes feels at once contemporary and redolent of retro Israeli pop rock. Witness the funky, disco-tinged standout "Cham Be-Yaffo" (It's Hot in Jaffa).
