Up Next: Tierra Whack
Catch just a scene or two from from Tierra Whack’s groundbreaking visual album Whack World and you’d be hard-pressed to believe she grew up shy. Less surprising, however, is that the Philadelphia MC credits the legendary Dr. Seuss with drawing her out of her shell. “Just the rhyming words was like so crazy to me,” she tells Apple Music. “I’m like, ‘Yo, cat, hat, bat, sat, rat, flat, SHAT!’” Whack’s own rhymes have surpassed her childhood inspiration—the singer's "Mumbo Jumbo" has been nominated for a Grammy. Listen to Whack World and watch her talk about her journey in an exclusive documentary, and then check out an interview with Beats 1’s Ebro Darden where she dishes on the project’s reception, growing up in Philadelphia and her relationship with Solange.
