King Tubby: Deep Cuts

King Tubby: Deep Cuts

In the '70s and '80s, King Tubby's Kingston studio was a source of nearly unending creativity, each new riddim and dub pushing further—and deeper—than the last. On "Straight to Prince Jazzbo's Head", I-Roy traipses over an echoing beat, then defers to its percussive breakdown. Tubby's take on the iconic "No Woman No Cry", meanwhile, emphasises the swaying bassline and dries tears with looping snares.
