Staples of Spanish pop-rock, Duncan Dhu remain one of their homeland’s most revered bands of the ’80s. Taking their name from a music-loving character in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Kidnapped, the San Sebastián outfit became known for their freewheeling sound, taking cues variously from traditional Spanish music (“Una calle de París”, “Jardín de Rosas”) and American inspirations, such as the rockabilly twist the likes of “Cien Gaviotas”. After the core duo of Mikel Erentxun and Diego Vasallo split in 2001, the band reconvened in 2013 for another run of songs that reverberate at home and abroad.
