Damijan Mocnik

One of Slovenia's prominent contemporary composers, Damijan Močnik specializes in choral music, some of it for young singers. His music is eclectic and draws on such sources as chant and Slovenian folk music. By the mid-'90s, Močnik was writing works that would later be recorded, with three included on the 2004 album Damijan Močnik: Verbum supernum prodiens. Močnik has mostly devoted himself to sacred choral music, but he has also composed orchestral music and works in other genres. By 2023, when Močnik's Johannespassion was recorded by the Munich Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir, some 20 of his works had been recorded.
