About Angy
Born in 1990 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, teen pop-punk rocker Angy was only 16 years old when she appeared on the international reality show Factor X. Though she ultimately lost the competition to María Villalón, she scored a recording contract with Sony BMG and collaborated with producer José Ramón Flóres on her 2008 self-titled debut album. Angy included the lead single "Sola en el Silencio," which became a major hit and propelled the album up the charts along with it. Angy notably featured a half-dozen English-language covers, including well-known hits by Nirvana ("Smells Like Teen Spirit"), Dover ("Devil Came to Me"), Britney Spears ("Baby One More Time"), No Doubt ("Just a Girl"), Michelle Branch ("Everywhere"), and Cindy Lauper ("Girls Just Want to Have Fun"). ~ Jason Birchmeier
