More than five years into their career as a K-pop squad, P1Harmony’s swagger hits a bit harder than a rookie team’s hype track tends to. On their ninth mini album UNIQUE, the FNC Entertainment sextet are still young, but they also have years of non-stop touring across Europe and North America under their belts that give the central “I’m unique” assertion of the Brazilian phonk lead single some weight. But it’s the B-sides of UNIQUE that best back up the boastful concept, demonstrating the range of this team. “L.O.Y.L.” intersperses soft synth sounds with a textured hip-hop edge. “Wednesday Girl” sails along on satisfying vocal melodies that P1Harmony only occasionally lean into, despite their name. “ICE (VVS)” breaks back in with the high-energy drama and rap delivery that define P1Harmony’s stage presence better than a single hook ever could.
