The Blanco series from Massachusetts-born rapper Millyz has been one of the most consistent mixtape runs in independent rap. Since 2018, he has been displaying his vulnerable, diaristic songwriting over a variety of different regional sounds with remarkable steadiness. On the seventh edition, released in 2025, Millyz proves himself to be your favourite rapper’s favourite rapper, recruiting a plethora of impressive guests, including DJ Drama, Jadakiss, NoCap, Rob49 and Ot7 Quanny. Despite the star power, the project remains Millyz’s show, in which he deftly weaves between a number of subgenres, like trap, pain rap and more. On “Alone”, he showcases his chops as a singer, crooning over an acoustic-guitar melody and offering insight into the mental state that fuels many of his best songs: “Explore my heart, but there’s some places that I won’t go/Yeah, and I fell in love with the rain/I like it better when it’s stormy.”
