mosca

Any attempt to pin down or neatly categorise Nsqk’s music won’t get very far. The Monterrey-born artist has often played in and across genre spaces with creative abandon, something evident to those who checked out his albums ATPand the preceding ROY. On his 2026 full-length mosca, released during the most visible period of his career to date, the qualities that defined those prior releases are only intensified by its identifiable realignment towards rock-oriented music. The riffage that opens “Dientes De Fierro”, a team-up with Mexican American indie-pop act Jean Dawson, and the arena-ready drum work behind “Canonizado” represent some of the clearest indicators of this pivot, though both still retain the alternative hip-hop sensibilities of his earlier work. As the album progresses, he demonstrates his range across cuts like the immersive “Hombre De Bien” and the sad-sierreño-style “Mil Problemas”, a collab with Eslabon Armado’s frontman Pedro Tovar. As he dabbles in furious techno on “Lo Tuvimos Pero Ya No Está” and wobbly funk on “Estar Así Siempre” with Julieta Venegas, there’s really no telling what surprises await with each new song.
