For the first half-decade or so of his career, AZ Chike was a regional secret. Southern California rap devotees were diehards, and he was an integral part of the Los Angeles scene alongside Remble, the late Drakeo the Ruler and 03 Greedo. All that changed when he linked up with Tyler, The Creator on 2026’s “Look Like My Mama”. The rapper became a national star, and No Rest for the Wicked looks to parlay that success into sustained popularity as the next SoCal export to go global. Despite these aspirations, Chike makes it clear that there’s no place like home. On “Sky Rockets” he raps, “You ain’t from where I’m from and I could tell/What you know about pump heels and gun smells?” On “The World Is Ours”, which also features Tyler, The Creator, Chike doubles down on his allegiances: “It’s sunny California but I’m the coldest in the city,” he declares.
