Since inking a publishing deal at 14 on the strength of his MySpace demos, the English polymath has been making hits for over half his life, writing and producing for Beyoncé, Dua Lipa and long-time collaborator Zara Larsson, whose 2025 album, Midnight Sun, he executive produced and co-wrote. But MNEK is also a formidable talent in his own right, with a solo EP and a full-length under his belt. Following a banner year of behind-the-scenes work, the 31-year-old studio wizard returns with his first solo project since 2018’s Language. On BULLDOZER!!, MNEK channels the energy of a wild night out, drawing from the buoyant sounds of ’90s house and UK garage. But just ’cause you can dance to it doesn’t mean it’s not that deep: Tracks like “LADY!!” and “MUSCLE MARYS..” tackle subjects like body image, self-doubt and gender representation. It’s introspective dance music for queening out, letting loose and breaking down walls, complete with gospel harmonies, a flute breakdown and a sly interpolation of crunk classic “Get Low”.
