Deep feelings abound on the Texas hitmakers’ six-song effort. Already well-versed in the art of expressing profound emotions through the medium of song, Grupo Frontera press forward with some deeply felt energy on their latest project with hitmaking producer and frequent collaborator Edgar Barrera. Comprising a half dozen tracks largely occupied by matters of the heart, the aptly named Con dolor covers a range of sentiments in the space between sadness and joy. From the desperate pleas of opener “Bye” to the utterly transfixing beauty behind “Ojitos Bellos”, the Texas-based ensemble executes on the premise at a now predictably high level and with genuine passion. On the swaying and invigorating “Cuéntame”, they seek to persuade a former lover to abandon their current partner and return to their side. Later, on the peppier “Te Voy A Conquistar”, that romantic streak manifests under a more positive set of circumstances. You can practically hear the tears dripping down “Pary”, a deceptively upbeat closer steeped in sorrow.
